Melwire Rolling, a family owned business fashioning steel rods, bars, flat irons and wire rods out of imported steel billets under the Melwa brand, has invested $35 million to grow production capacity by 150%. The company rode the construction boom since commissioning its first plant, a 1,200 tonnes-per-month facility, in 2002. “The boom has another 15 years or so in it,” says Muruga Pillai, a co-founder and director.
