A Vivacious Activist in a Silent World 

Husna stands out as a shining example of social activism and advocacy, asserting herself, making her voice heard, and embodying the change she wants to see in the world, all this despite her hearing impairment. Her powerful storytelling on Instagram through “Insight into the Deaf World” challenges existing stereotypes and fosters a deeper understanding and empathy among her audience, promoting a more inclusive society.

“Insight into the Deaf World” has earned Husna global recognition, and beyond her digital advocacy, she is actively involved in various impactful initiatives. Husna lives by the belief that each of us can be the change. 

At GenUth, she contributes to projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on education, climate action, community empowerment, and equality. As the Impact Officer for the Global Shapers Colombo Hub, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, she collaborates with the Commonwealth Secretariat on youth-focused programs, further amplifying her impact. She is also the Social Media Manager, and Advisor for We are Team Rocket.

Husna is driven by a vision of a world where every young person can thrive, regardless of background or abilities. She is deeply committed to creating an accessible education system, advocating for the full inclusion of the hearing-impaired community, and empowering youth to become drivers of positive change.

Her work has already led to significant achievements: 53 students have improved their English skills thanks to her teaching with more than half gaining university admission, and 20 securing employment or founding businesses. Additionally, her advocacy efforts have reached over 10,000 people, raising awareness and garnering support for the hearing-impaired community. Husna is bridging gaps, breaking down barriers, and inspiring others to become changemakers.
