Global Sports Lanka, a leading supplier of sails and kites to the international water sports industry, has been in operation since 1983. It manufactures over 25,000 kites each year, contributing 85% to the total kite product volume of international brand North Sails, from its production facility in the Wathupitiwala free trade zone, which employs 400 people. The kites they produce range from 4 to 18 square metres in surface area and require over 100 different materials to make. Various types of polyester, nylon and polyurethane are the industrial cloths used, and quality checks are conducted at each stage of the manufacturing process, starting from raw materials.
