As Sri Lanka strengthens its position in the global market, it will need to leverage both locally developed solutions and globally adopted toolsets. In this context, Nitin Dua, Distribution & Geo X Leader of Autodesk India & SAARC, Yashoda Wijerathne, Country Business Consultant of Autodesk Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and Dumindu Tennakoon, Country Manager of Redington Sri Lanka and the Maldives, discuss how Redington is empowering Sri Lankan designers to make the most of Autodesk’s platforms, aligning local innovation with global standards.

Could you tell us about Autodesk’s new partnership with Redington?

Nitin: Autodesk is pleased to announce the appointment of Redington as our Value-Added Distributor (VAD) for the Sri Lankan and Maldivian markets. This strategic partnership builds upon Redington’s proven expertise as Autodesk’s Value-Added Distributor for India, where they have successfully driven scale, channel engagement, and customer value.

With significant opportunities emerging in the infrastructure and allied sectors across Sri Lanka and Maldives, Redington will play a pivotal role in reorienting our go-to-market efforts and expanding Autodesk’s reach in these growth markets. Leveraging their deep experience and success in India, Redington brings a wealth of knowledge and execution strength that will help accelerate Autodesk’s growth in the region.

This partnership marks an important step in our continued commitment to empower customers and partners across this region with the technology needed to design and build a better world.

In what ways can Autodesk contribute to the future development of the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) and Manufacturing industries in Sri Lanka?

Yashoda: Sri Lanka is entering a decisive phase of recovery, with major infrastructure and manufacturing investments on the horizon — from port and refinery projects to expressways, airports, and new industrial zones. These projects are capital-intensive, and every delay or design error multiplies cost. This is where Autodesk can add transformative value.

Globally proven tools like Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, and the Construction Cloud help governments and contractors cut inefficiencies. With Building Information Modelling (BIM), multi-disciplinary teams share a single digital model, reducing clashes, improving procurement accuracy, and preventing costly rework. Prefabrication and modular construction enabled by Autodesk workflows can further reduce on-site labour, improve quality, and deliver projects faster.

On the manufacturing side, Autodesk Fusion integrates design, simulation, and production, allowing Sri Lankan exporters in apparel, rubber, and automotive components to prototype quickly, cut material waste, and compete globally. As industries expand within new industrial parks, digital factory layouts and process simulation will ensure safer and more efficient operations.

The opportunities are immediate. Colombo Port expansions, CPC refinery expansion projects, expressway network developments, and industrial park developments all demand smarter delivery. By embedding digital workflows, Sri Lanka can lower project costs, attract investors, and meet global sustainability standards.

The roadmap is clear: launch pilot BIM projects, train local talent, and incentivise digital adoption in procurement. With Autodesk’s solutions, Sri Lanka can build more with less, unlocking efficiency, resilience, and sustainable economic growth.
