Castlereigh Dam, part of the Luxapana hydroelectricity complex, is built across the Kehelgamu Oya, a major tributary of the Kelani river, southwest of Hatton. The dam creates the iconic Castlereigh reservoir, water from which is diverted to the Wimalasurendara Power Station 12 kilometres away.
