SLASSCOM NATIONAL INGENUITY AWARDS 2023: IGNITING SRI LANKA'S INNOVATION LANDSCAPE

The SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards, recognizing innovation and excellence in Sri Lanka’s technology sector, took place on June 16th at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Colombo. With over 200 participants in attendance, having winners from all nine provinces, the event showcased the achievements and groundbreaking contributions of individuals and organizations in driving the country’s tech ecosystem forward. SLASSCOM’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Forum joined forces with the Regional Development Forum to organize the awards for the fifth consecutive time. Sysco LABS, a leading technology innovation company, served as the exclusive main sponsor for the event.

The distinguished event was graced by Alejandro Alvarez de la Campa, the Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives at the International Finance Corporation, who served as the esteemed Chief Guest. His presence added immense value and recognition to the event, highlighting the importance of fostering a vibrant and dynamic technology landscape in Sri Lanka. Joining the ceremony as the Guest of Honour was Trine Jøranli Eskedal, the Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka. Awards and the recognition they have garnered on a global scale The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards across ten categories in the main segment, known as the SNIA awards, where an impressive lineup of winners was applauded for their groundbreaking work and innovative contributions that continue to propel Sri Lanka’s tech industry to new heights.

Securing the category of Best Client Delivery Innovation, was Eduscope Pvt Ltd for their project Eduscope Unified Media Station (UMS-4). For BPM (Business Process Management) Company with the Best Technology Use, the top position was claimed by HSBC Electronic Data Processing Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, thanks to their project First Direct Regular Savers Accounts Opening – Automation. TASA Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd emerged as the winner in the category of BPM Company with the Best Project, receiving recognition for their exceptional project Scootix-Delivery Management Solution.

The category of Best Innovative Product/Project – University had three winners and included Thiwanka Cholitha, Lakisuru Semasinghe, and Imalka Gunawardana from SLIIT for their project TangiGuru. In the category of Best Innovative Product/Project – School, the victorious team comprised D.M.Thevindu Dilmik, M.N.F.Nishfa, M.N.F.Arhama, M.K.F.Safa, and M.R.F.Nifla from Babul Hassen Central College, Warakapola, who impressed the judges with their project “e-voting System.”

Dialog Axiata PLC received well-deserved recognition in the category of Best TECH FOR GOOD Software Innovation or Product for their project Karuna lk, which focuses on technology for the greater good. Sysco LABS Sri Lanka was honoured in the category of Best Innovation in Internal Processes, Technology, or Framework for their outstanding project The Beacon Dashboard. Yenasys Pvt Ltd triumphed in the Best Startup category with their noteworthy project Conversational Messaging.

Platform for BFSI, while Dr Harshani Perera from Inqbaytor Group Pvt Ltd was celebrated as the winner in the category recognizing remarkable women technopreneurs. Elzian Agro Pvt ltd claimed the top spot in the category of Best Disruptive Product Innovation with their groundbreaking project Elzian Agro Earth Restoration Life-force Project.

The SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards this year served as a source of inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs and technologists, igniting their passion to push boundaries, and playing a crucial role in creating an environment that actively encourages and nurtures the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.
